Heroe (pronounced heh-ROH-eh) is a leader of the Sytaka, a targai tribe of southern Abanir. An experienced hunter and tracker, in Y9976* he was nonetheless forced to ask a passing group of adventurers traveling the Hundred Days Road to help him defend the remains of his encampment from nindoru hiding in nearby caves.
Though his allegiance is now with the Sytaka, Heroe was born to a prominent Kalahan family, deemed in the traditional targai manner to be of royal nature, that departed the northern steppe to serve as rulers of the southern tribe upon the death of their prior monarch. Despite this Heroe has eschewed such a formal leadership role himself, instead unconventionally allowing it to be passed to his brother Arlan. He still regularly leads smaller detachments of the tribe, however, such as for hunting parties, and regularly serves as an advisor to his younger and less experienced sibling.
