The Manu Mountains (pronounced MAH-noo) are a mountain range within the Sangora Desolation, with peaks that rise high above the surrounding desert. Their volcanic origins are still quite clear in the modern day - geysers erupt from isolated hot springs, the only nearby sources of water, undrinkable as it is, and lava still flows from out of the mountains on occasion. Erosion by the sand and wind has shaped much of the landscape around the mountains into an impenetrable maze of twisting canyons.

Certain Akwarai clans use the Manu Mountains as natural fortresses in times of crisis, retreating to hidden and easily defensible locations within them to outwait any threats. At some point in the distant past the mountains were at least somewhat more permanently inhabited, as evidenced by the rock art that can found across the region in protected alcoves and overhands, yet few other traces of this past culture remain.
