The Phiora Sea (pronounced fee-OR-ah) is a major inland body of water, separated from the Chaska Sea by the Tanerde Strait.
Inhabitants
Southern coast
Historically Viridia has been the most influential nation around the Phiora Sea, using the Tanerde Strait to control trade passing into and out of the Chaska Sea. Viridia still enjoys a preeminent position, but now shares the southern coast of the Phiora in Thadria with the breakaway provinces of Forloroth & Valadhel and the abandoned province of Erenon.
Northern coast
The northern coast of the Phiora is split between Izgrev, Koritan, Razivia, Talam Galta, and the Druzda Khanate, as well as a handful of independent cities and towns.
Within the sea
There are very few underwater communities in the Phiora Sea, as the anoxic waters mean few can thrive.
Geography
Located at a northern latitude and in relative proximity to the Northern Wall, the Phiora is a somewhat cold body of water.
Though a large variety of creatures live in the sea, both mundane and magical in nature, the oxygen-depleted anoxic waters at lower depths mean most life exists closer to the surface. As a result of these conditions, however, the numerous shipwrecks within the Phiora are quite well preserved and sometimes sought after by scavengers.
