Meritoic (pronounced mare-ih-TOH-ik) is a regional language spoken primarily by the population of Khapesh. An evolution of the older and now entirely scholarly Demotic language, written Meritoic has a reputation as difficult to learn due to the practice of not writing vowels and requiring them to be inferred.

Meritoic is also used outside Khapesh by people living around the eastern coast of the Chaska Sea and the northern Kilche Sea, most notably within Akhom and Rudamun.

Meritoic has a large vocabulary specifically relating to matters of desert life, arcane magic, and the dead (and undead).
