Odarta is an Eretreban city, located in the shadow of Mount Odarta.
Odarta is not particularly notable by Eretreban standards, except that it hosts the Trials of Kurgess every 16 years. Due to this, the size of the city is much larger than what would be required to support its base population. Three neighborhoods of the city (Hero’s Rest, Bluetide, and Inland Rise) are effectively uninhabited except for the brief period in which the Trials take place, though they remain at least partially maintained at other times.
In the middle of town is a large central park. During the Trials this is used as a place for ceremonies, but at other times it’s mostly used as a place to pen and graze sheep.
Odarta also has a coliseum, tracks, and other athletic facilities, maintained until the city’s turn to host the Trials comes again.
The city is fairly wealthy. Though its usual industries of fishing and pearl diving yield steady but not high income, the money brought by those that come to watch the Trials fills the city’s coffers.
Graffiti is commonplace in Odarta, whether that be on back allies, shops, houses, or interiors. It is generally seen as harmless and all in good fun by those that live in the city, though Eretreban administrators attempt to remove or cover it during the Trials (largely unsuccessfully).
