The Bore is a marine sinkhole in the Wounds, not far from the Phersu island of Teiraru. Over three hundred feet wide and of uncertain depth, the waters of the Hidden River eventually flow into the Bore, and from there to an unknown destination. Many believe the sinkhole connects straight into the Depths far below.

The water around the Bore is unusually viscous and anoxic, extremely hazardous to any who would approach. Combined with the strong downward force of the water, this renders it impassable to even the most skilled of swimmers, and as a result it remains nearly entirely unexplored.

The walls of the Bore are smooth aside from the unusual rows of horizontal grooves that do not appear to have been created by a natural geological process.
