River's End is a city in Matarsah located at the mouth of the Lifewaters, from which the city derives its name. Though a small community of giants had long lived in the area, most of the city's inhabitants today are the descendants of colonists from Kea Racha. For centuries an imperial degree held back migration into Matarsah, but after the collapse of imperial control around the Gulf of Timakal in Y9612* the population of River's End has exploded, transforming the once small settlement into the largest city around the gulf north of Vaothan.

Like the other, much smaller coastal settlements nearby, the architecture of River's End uses typical Kea Rachan styles, brought to the region by those who arrived in the days of the Sangiran Empire.

River's End is governed as a merchant republic city-state, functionally completely independent from both other communities in Matarsah and abroad. As the only major port in Matarsah, it sees a significant amount of maritime traffic, and ships visiting the city carry goods to and from foreign cities.

While the giants of Matarsah have historically tolerated the presence of River's End, recent efforts in the city to build water wheels and dams on the Lifewaters have caused significant tension. The giants strongly object to halting the flow of the river on religious grounds, as it is critical to their cosmology that the Lifewaters continue unimpeded.
