The King at the End of Time is a mythical figure shared by many hobgoblin peoples of the Stormlands, whose stories are especially influential in the north in Kad and Vukararn. A violent and not exactly heroic figure, the King returns periodically over the course of history to damage and reshape the world, leveling towers and mountains as he does so. In the distant past he taught the stone how to be quiet, and the air how to speak, and their spirits are the only beings of the world for which he cares.
Physical descriptions of the King are remarkably consistent. He is said to be twice as tall as a typical hobgoblin, with hands made of fire and hair of liquid iron. He wears tattered clothes of patchwork faces, some of which still gaze at the world through near-blind eyes.
Other peoples of the Stormlands, who may not have as much familiarity with his legends, often believe the King at the End of Time to be a messianic figure to hobgoblins. This is quite incorrect, as he is more of a herald and a bringer of an ending to things. His arrival is not dreaded nor anticipated, but rather simply known - he will inexorably return, whatever actions anyone else may take.
