Nindara (pronounced nin-DAH-rah) is the capital of Tamkaranu. Nindara's population has swelled in recent decades, as increasing migration from the interior has transformed it from one of the the smallest of the nation's major coastal cities into the largest.

Nindara is an ancient city. The site has been populated in some form or another for over seven thousand years, and successive wars, disasters, abandonment, and resettlement have led the inhabitants of Nindara to build on top of the ruined remains of their precursors. Its ancient history can be seen in the vast catacombs and ruins of the under-city, but the most immediate and obvious sign of Nindara's past is the large hills upon which much of the city is built. These are not natural formations, but rather the result of thousands of years of debris from past homes, walls, palaces, and more that have been reduced to rubble and buried, adding to the many existing layers.

Located at the mouth of River Arrud, Nindara is an important port for the nation. Most raw resources that come from the western colonies first arrive elsewhere in the region, particularly in Harkek, Karka, and Alashta, but the city's location on the Arrud means much of this material passes through Nindara on its way to communities farther inland. Nindara's port is well-defended, both by the nation's own fleet and by those loyal to the various trade coalitions that have interests in the colonies.

Nindara's architecture is characteristic of that of the nation as a whole. Densely packed dwellings constructed of stone or brick line the somewhat haphazard streets of the city. Many of the buildings in the modern city are quite old, but some neighborhoods around the docks and in the north are considerably newer, having only grown with the recent population influx.
