Each city and surrounding area within Khapesh is administered by one or more nomarchs, entrusted by the king or queen with near complete autonomy to oversee the day to day governance. Nomarchs are granted a great deal of discretion over their territory and are essentially given a lifetime position as long as they perform in line with the king’s expectations. However, it is not unknown for a nomarch to be recalled and replaced if they are judged incompetent.
