Skull-wands are a type of magical item created and used by some peoples of Brightmarch, particularly in the south and east where the tropical grasslands transform into the Laqto Rainforest. Skilled mages amongst these peoples take the skulls of their deceased and, through placing magical components within, render them capable of storing magical effects and later releasing them as spells. This is done primarily as a means of honoring the respected dead, and never to skulls from those with whom the creator has no personal connection.
Marcher mages sometimes carry skull-wands in place of the more typical scrolls, staves, and other magical implements.
