Ngeshnu plants (pronounced NGESH-noo (ng as ŋ)) is a type of carnivorous lily-like aquatic plant. Its large leaves float on the surface of the water, where they absorb large amounts of sunlight during the day, storing the energy in the roots below. At night the plants then release this energy back as light through the petals of their lure-flowers, attracting nearby flying insects which they then capture and consume.
Ngeshnu plants are common throughout the Sarrag, where they grow prolifically enough that the bodies of water in which they thrive are commonly referred to by the eusarrag and wind-traders as "thousand-torch oases".
