Ekrek eagles (pronounced ECK-reck) are a type of bird of prey found throughout the Aban Steppe. While not as large or individually dangerous as other eagles of the steppe, ekrek eagles are known to be highly intelligent, often coordinating their hunts and, during djes, intentionally spreading fire to flush out their quarry. They are easily recognizable by their large crests, imitations of which are made and worn by shamans of some targai tribes.
