Melzi sits within a small, sheltered cove, surrounded by tall sandstone cliffs. Much of the population makes their living from the sea, particularly as whalers or fishers, but others tend to the town's prized groves of olives and citruses.

Despite its size Melzi is a religious melting pot. Followers of the [[Chaskan pantheon|Chaskan]], [[Khapeshan pantheon|Khapeshan]], and [[Hellean pantheon|Hellean]] pantheons can all be found in the town, as can a number of [[Monadism|Monadists]]. Rather uniquely, Melzi's few temples are shared between pantheons. For example, the largest temples is simultaneously dedicated to the Chaskan [[Hasamel]], the Khapeshan [[Khenmu]], and the Hellean [[Khalkeus]], with the clergy of each serving the community together.
