Most, but not all, of the islands lie under the control of [[Viridia]] - the remainder are inhabited by independent settlements. The isles are located on the boundary between the [[Chaska Sea]] and the [[Sea of Ersas]], and therefore the surrounding waters are frequently traveled by mercantile vessels.

The largest island, upon which the fortified city of [[Sarissa]] is located, has tall white stone cliffs around almost its entire perimeter. Prior to Viridia taking possession of the Argelean Isles in {{Year|4751}}, this island was the realm of a giant bandit lord who launched raids at the nearby settlements of the mainland before retreating back to their stronghold, which now lies in ruins, scavenged for material.
