The Suthivenas (pronounced soo-theh-VEH-nahs) are an elven tribe. Though they now largely live in Hinthial, the tribe was formerly one of the Great Houses of Talmithe.
Accomplished seafarers and navigators, the Suthivenas have long been known for their far-ranging voyages, frequently sailing to islands and continents rarely visited by others. These journeys eventually brought them into increasingly frequent contact with the elves of Hinthial. Reunited with most of their kin, and with the Banishment merely a memory, the Suthivenas made the decision to return to elven lands, abandoning their status as a Great House and relocating en masse. By Y9000* the majority of the tribe had left their old homes in Talmithe behind.
The old, slowly decaying ports of the Suthivenas can still be found in some areas around Larthial, their old stronghold in Talmithe, though by now many have been torn apart and scavenged for material. The Hathna, a recently established Great House at the time of the Suthivenas departure, quickly claimed the island for themselves. Today the Suthivenas mostly live around the cities of Taisnica and Caisra in the eastern islands of Hinthial, though some settled elsewhere. Even with this change the tribe has kept a degree of cohesion, maintaining their own leadership and traditions independently, though not entirely separately, from the other inhabitants of Hinthial.
Suthivenas ships do not wander any less widely than they used to, and can still be found in both the busiest ports of the world and in places few others have ever sailed. They continue to return often to Talmithe to trade or visit relatives who remained behind.
